FAIRMAT and Syensqo partner to structure a circular carbon composite value chain for aerospace, space, and automotive industries

FAIRMAT and Syensqo announce the signing of a strategic industrial partnership dedicated to the recycling of carbon composite waste. Concluded as part of a multi-year agreement, this partnership aims to transform materials that have historically been undervalued into high-performance circular resources for the sports, mobility, and construction sectors.

Syensqo gives a second life to its composite waste

A global leader in high-performance composites for aerospace, space, and automotive applications, Syensqo is taking a new step forward by identifying an alternative end-of-life solution for its carbon composite waste. Through this partnership, the company transforms complex waste streams into valuable resources, while maximising the preservation of the technical performance of the materials.

Carbon composite waste from Syensqo’s Östringen plant in Germany will be recycled by FAIRMATand reintroduced into new industrial applications. This approach makes it possible to transform a product historically perceived as disposable into a circular material, matching the mechanical properties expected by the most demanding industries. FAIRMAT will reuse the recycled carbon fiber composite across its own markets, including mobility, sports, construction, and energy.

Benjamin Saada, Founder and CEO of FAIRMAT:

“This partnership with Syensqo illustrates a paradigm shift for the composites industry. It demonstrates that materials designed for the most demanding applications can fully enter a circular economy. Together with Syensqo, we are structuring an industrial value chain capable of transforming complex waste into strategic resources for mobility, sports, construction and energy.”

A second milestone in the collaboration between FAIRMAT and Syensqo

This new agreement follows on from the partnership initiated in March 2025 between FAIRMAT and Syensqo, which had already been materialized through a contract covering two industrial sites in the United Kingdom. It reflects Syensqo’s ambition to sustainably structure a carbon composite recycling value chain at the European level.

The materials developed by Syensqo for aerospace, space and motorsport applications are among the highest-performing on the market. Their characteristics in terms of lightness, stiffness, strength and fatigue resistance form a technological foundation that is directly leveraged in the materials re-manufactured by FAIRMAT.

Gabriel Molina, Global Sustainable Development Director

“We are delighted to extend our collaboration with FAIRMAT, reinforcing Syensqo’s commitment to advancing circularity in high-performance materials. Through this partnership, we are delivering a circular solution for composite waste generated at our manufacturing sites across the UK and Europe, while demonstrating that composite scraps can be successfully recycled and repurposed into demanding industrial applications.”

FAIRMAT strengthens its position as a leading industrial partner

Together with Syensqo, FAIRMAT strengthens its position as a key player in advanced carbon composite recycling for high-performance industries. This partnership marks a new step in the industrialization of FAIRMAT's solutions and in the structuring of a credible circular value chain for carbon composites. It is part of FAIRMAT's broader industrial acceleration, driven by the ramp-up of its production capacities and the multiplication of partnerships with global materials leaders.

The announcement is made on the occasion of JEC World 2026 in Paris, the world’s leading trade show for composite materials, where FAIRMAT is presenting its vision of a circular, high-performance, and competitive industry.

About FAIRMAT :

Founded in 2020 by Benjamin Saada, FAIRMAT addresses a major challenge: the explosion of waste and the growing scarcity of high-performance materials. Through a deep-tech approach, FAIRMAT not only recycles materials but fully closes the materials loop by disrupting industrial processes. Its FairFactories in France and the United States are smart, agile and automated plants integrating robotics, software, AI and machine learning for ultra-efficient and scalable production. With Infinity Recycling, a new patented technology, FAIRMAT goes even further by enabling near-infinite recycling through a patented cold-plasma process that recovers intact carbon fiber.

After a €8.6m seed round in 2021 and a €34m Series A in 2022, FAIRMAT raised €51.5m in April 2025, combining €26.5m in equity and €25m in venture debt from the European Investment Bank. The round was completed with the support of new investors Bpifrance (Large Venture fund), Slate VC and family office Cape Capital, alongside existing shareholders Singular, Temasek, CNP and Pictet Group. An additional €10m equity extension was completed in October 2025 with the European fund Infinity Recycling to support FAIRMAT’s industrial acceleration. The company employs 100 people.
